How should we reinvent aging suburbs?

As inner cities and dense transit corridors boom, what does the future look like for older suburbs?

That’s the topic of discussion at a forum scheduled for Feb. 3. The discussion is hosted by the Real Estate & Building Industry Coalition. Christopher Leinberger, a developer, “smart growth” consultant, academic and writer is the main speaker.

“Leinberger will be offering his insights into how cities and towns in the Charlotte Region can create walkable, mixed-use suburban communities through innovative policies and incentives,” REBIC said in its description of the event. “He’ll share his strategies for turning aging suburban neighborhoods into compact, walkable communities with affordable housing, inviting public spaces, and a mix of commercial uses.”
