A developer is planning to build a new apartment community in north Charlotte, across Reames Road from the new Residences at Brookline apartments.
Brookline Residential recently filed a request to rezone the 14.2-acre site west of Interstate 77 and south of Northlake Mall. The company is seeking to build 266 apartments, which would be in 10 buildings of up to four stories. The plan calls for 460 parking spaces, most of which would be surface parking.
The apartments would also include a pool, leasing office and clubhouse.
RK Investors, led by principals Russell Ranson III and Neil Kapadia, is behind the plan. They founded the firm in 2005 and have invested in hotels, residential lots, land and apartments. Their investments have included the Brookline single family neighborhood, a gated community with 79 houses, and the Home2Suites by Hilton hotel near Charlotte Douglas International Airport.
