A new hotel is in the works in Davidson, off Interstate 77 at Exit 30, near Lake Norman.
Martin Kerr, a local real estate developer, said a hotel operator is doing due diligence on the site at Griffith Street and Davidson Gateway Drive. The location is near Lake Norman and several blocks from the Davidson College campus. Kerr said the hotel operator and developer, whom he did not name, will submit plans to the town of Davidson within a few weeks.
“A hotel is a great complementary use for this site instead of the multi-family project approved and originally envisioned here,” said Kerr, in a statement. “It is expected to generate less traffic in the immediate area as well as throughout town. Additionally, it will produce more revenue for the town from food and lodging taxes.”
The hotel would total about 120 rooms, and would include a pool, meeting space and restaurant with views of the lake.
