Gaston County leaders unveiled a new brand and image Wednesday, one they hope will help change perceptions both inside and outside the county.
Dubbed “Gaston Outside,” the new image is meant to capture what makes Gaston different, organizers said: Outside the hustle and bustle of Charlotte, outdoors activities like Crowders Mountain and “thinking outside the box.”

The Greater Gaston Development Corporation, a public-private partnership, unveiled the new branding and image for Gaston County Wednesday night at an event in downtown Gastonia. The group hired Greenville, S.C.-based Ferebee Lane to coordinate the new marketing campaign, which will be on display widely throughout the county starting next week.

Gaston County is trying to improve its image and tap into more of the growth pouring into the Charlotte region. The county directly to Mecklenburg’s west has seen the slowest growth rate of bordering counties in recent years, as counties such as Union and Cabarrus attract more residents and business.
In the coming weeks, Gaston Outside will be appearing on billboards along highways such as I-85 and U.S. 74, and will appear on vehicles and advertisements throughout the region.
