Uptown’s newest hotel, a 250-room Embassy Suites, is on pace to open in October, developer BPR Properties said this week.

“We’re looking at opening probably towards the end of October,” said Birju Patel, the company’s president. The company held a job fair Tuesday to find housekeeping and other workers for the hotel, and Patel said they plan to hire employees starting next month.

Crews have been working on the building across from the NASCAR Hall of Fame on East Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard since breaking ground in June 2014. The building will include a gym, pool and outdoor terrace with a sun deck, as well as 6,200 square feet of event space. Japanese steakhouse Sui Akor will be located on the ground floor.

Uptown is in the midst of a hotel boom. Five hotels are under construction, totaling just over 1,000 rooms: In addition to the Embassy Suites, that includes the Kimpton on Third Street, Springhill Suites on Fifth Street, the Residence Inn/AC Hotel atop the EpiCentre, and the Ivey’s Hotel conversion on North Tryon Street (See below for a map of all the major projects underway in Charlotte).
