A restaurant concept called La Madeleine is opening this fall in the spot near Northlake Mall once home to Mimi’s Cafe, which was gutted by a 2-alarm fire last spring.
La Madeleine is a casual French restaurant concept that also opened a location in Cary this summer. The cafe serves breakfast, lunch and dinner, and its menu includes omelettes, quiche, soups, salads and sandwiches, crêpes and French pastries.
The North Carolina locations are owned by R. Hakim Corp, a franchise group based in Texas. The local franchisee, Kyle Hakim, said the reception for the Cary location so far has been “fantastic.”
The plan for now is to open in Charlotte in mid November, ahead of the holiday shopping rush, Hakim said.

The new restaurant is at 10224 Perimeter Pkwy., which is directly across from the mall. It’s currently being gutted and renovated, Hakim added.
Hakim added that the cafe is hiring for a variety of part-time and full-time positions ahead of the opening. Those interested can apply at www.lmcafe.net.
Mimi’s Cafe said it wouldn’t reopen in April after a discarded cigarette led to a destructive fire that caused more than $250,000 in damages, WCNC reported at the time.
