Luxury retailer Johnny Was is opening its first North Carolina location soon in SouthPark Mall.
The store is slated to open this spring in the space next to Apple previously occupied by Porsche Design, which closed last week, according to Simon Property Group, which owns SouthPark.
Based in Southern California, Johnny Was sells bohemian and vintage-style women’s clothing, accessories, handbags, jewelry and fragrance. The new SouthPark location will be the retailer’s 21st U.S. store.
“We’re thrilled to bring the boho chic brand to Charlotte, and it strengthens our list of offerings and commitment to better serve the Charlotte community with premier choices,” said Holly Roberson, SouthPark’s director of marketing and business development.
Johnny Was is among a slew of upscale retailers to open shop at SouthPark recently.
Frye, known for its leather boots, opened late last year next to Madewell. Tesla opened a boutique inside Nordstrom before the holidays. And upscale handbag maker Brahmin opened in late 2015 near the mall’s “luxury wing” that includes Nieman Marcus and Louis Vuitton.
