Local veterinarian Jim Dobies has opened his second walk-in urgent care facility called UrgentVet Pet Clinic in Fort Mill, just over a year after opening his first location in Belmont.
UrgentVet provides medical treatment for cats’ and dogs’ non-life-threatening ailments like minor wounds and ear infections – issues that require immediate attention but aren’t serious enough for hospitalization.
“UrgentVet is open nights, weekends and all holidays – when most primary care vets are closed,” Dobies said in a statement this week. “Our mission is to be an extension of your regular veterinarian.”
Dobies said his Belmont clinic, which opened in late 2015, was experiencing high enough demand that a second location farther south would be necessary for patients seeking after-hours veterinary care.
The new UrgentVet at 870 Gold Hill Rd is open from 3 p.m.-11 p.m., Monday through Friday, and 10 a.m.-8 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday. No appointments are necessary, though the clinic does take referrals from primary care veterinarians.
