Belk’s popular private label brand Crown & Ivy will start offering menswear and women’s shoes.
The collections will be available in stores and online this month, the Charlotte-based department store said in a statement Tuesday. Next year, the brand will start offering home products and kids’ apparel, too.
Some of the new Crown & Ivy items Belk said it will start selling for men include button-down woven shirts in printed patterns, polos, chino pants and suits. Some of the new women’s shoes that Belk will sell include brightly colored flip-flops, sandals and jellies.
Belk launched Crown & Ivy as a preppy women’s apparel line in 2014. The department store last year opened its first standalone Crown & Ivy store in Raleigh’s Crabtree Valley Mall.

Experts say private label brands, which are typically more moderately priced, are a way retailers can boost their profitability. Companies such as Belk get to keep more of the sales dollars from their private label brands because national-brand middlemen are eliminated, and stores can choose how and when to discount items.
Belk’s other private label brands include Red Camel and Made Cam Newton.
