Harris Teeter has signed a lease for a new store in Gastonia.
The new supermarket will be at the corner of Robinwood and Kendrickroads, a largely residential spot just up the street from Gastonia Country Club and less than a mile from a Food Lion grocery store. It may not be open for business anytime soon, though.
“This location is not an existing location – it will be a brand new store, and it is not on our list of stores to open in 2015,” Danna Jones, Harris Teeter’s communication manager, wrote in an email to The Observer.
Jones said she did not have any additional details about an opening date or store amenities at the moment.

Gastonia’s new Harris Teeter is also just down the road from one of the two remaining Gastonia Lowes Foods, both of which are slated to close by April 1.
Matthews-based Harris Teeter has over 230 stores across eight states and the District of Columbia, including over 60 in the Charlotte metropolitan area, which includes Gastonia.
