The cake shop Lady M has closed its doors in South End.

Magnolia Emporium, the boutique that housed the bakery at 1320 S Church St., said in an Instagram post Thursday that the store is permanently closed. Orders can still be made online and through other Lady M locations, like those in New York, Chicago, Boston, Los Angeles and Hong Kong.

“Sometimes one cannot overcome the negativity left behind by the previous mgmt,” Magnolia wrote in the post. A representative from Magnolia could not be reached to elaborate. “Stay tuned for updates on what is in store,” the post concluded.

According to Lady M’s Facebook page, the South End location just opened in December 2016.

Lady M was in South End’s Gold District, a hotspot for development near uptown that is largely still industrial. In other parts of South End, development has prompted the closure of other long-time businesses, including Phat Burrito and Amos’ Southend.
