The popular Charlotte restaurant 5Church has been named a catering vendor and the exclusive provider of room service at Ivey’s Hotel, the new boutique 42-room hotel that opened this spring in the spot once occupied by the iconic uptown department store.
The two Charlotte businesses are located in the same building, at 127 N. Tryon St. In a statement Tuesday, 5Church said it will also offer room service and catering to the 61 condos in the three floors above the hotel.
5Church, headed by formed “Top Chef” contestant Jamie Lynch, will offer breakfast, lunch and dinner at the hotel, as well as late-night and midday snacks. Some of the popular menu items it will serve include Belgian waffles with berry compote, and house-made pimento cheese.

The Ivey’s building dates to the 1920s, when it was J.B. Ivey & Company Department Store. The store closed in 1990, two years after Belk closed its uptown location.
5Church, which opened in uptown Charlotte at 5th and Church streets in May 2012, has since expanded into Charleston and Atlanta.
