Modern Acupuncture is opening its first Charlotte location this summer in the Blakeney Shopping Center.

Construction is set to begin on the new clinic later this month, and it is expected to open this August, according to a statement from the company Tuesday. The new clinic will be run by Denise Hess, a local entrepreneur.

Modern Acupuncture uses needle therapy on nodes to increase blood flow – however, the company said, unlike other acupuncture clinics, Modern Acupuncture does not require guests to remove their clothing.

The company said it accepts walk-ins and appointments for each 30-minute session. New patient rates are $29, according to Modern’s website.

Blakeney is the major mixed-use project at Ardrey Kell and Rea roads, near Ballantyne in south Charlotte. Other retailers in the complex include Target, Chopt, Harris Teeter and Blue Mercury.
