For whatever reason, Charlotte hasn’t hosted many music festivals in recent years. That’s about to change in October, when the Breakaway Music Festival comes to the AvidXChange Music Factory.

The festival will be headlined by Zedd, the popular electronic dance music DJ. Other performers include Lil Dicky, Blackbear, SuperDuperKyle and Cheat Codes, known for the recent “No Promises” with Demi Lovato.

Breakaway, which is held in Michigan in August and in Ohio in September, takes place Oct. 14 at the lot adjacent to AvidXchange’s new headquarters in the Music Factory.

Charlotte was chosen as the festival’s third 2017 location because the city has a “music loving, open-minded and intelligent mix of young professionals” that resonate well with the festival’s brand, according to Adam Lynn, managing partner of Prime Social Group, the Ohio group that produces the festival.

General admission festival tickets start at $50 and are available on the festival’s website.

The festival’s after party will be held at World, the new 21,000 square-foot nightclub in the Music Factory that’s taking the place of Label Charlotte, said World owner Gennaro Vitale, who also runs Kandy Bar uptown.
