A hair salon concept that leases space to local beauty professionals is opening soon in Matthews.

Sola Salon Studios will offer 32 studios in a 6,000 square-foot space at Matthews Festival, a shopping center at the corner of East Independence and Matthews Townshop Parkway. The complex is undergoing a renovation, and among its new tenants will also be Metro Diner and BJs Brewhouse.

The Sola space is still under construction, and is targeting a late July opening, a spokeswoman said.

Included in each private studio’s weekly rental fee are amenities such as a high-end hydraulic chair, Wi-Fi and on-site laundry facilities, Sola said in a statement. Studios are still available at the Matthews location, and can be booked by contacting Brad@solaCharlotte.com.

“The Matthews community has seen strong business growth, particularly at and around Matthews Festival.” Sola co-founder Matt Briger said. “Our expansion here will give salon professionals a new, affordable way to grow their business on their own terms.”

Sola first opened in 2004 and now operates 325 locations nationwide, the company said. It operates eight other locations in the Charlotte area, according to its website.

A similar salon concept called My Salon Suite opened two Charlotte locations earlier this year as well.
