The Fresh Market is coming to Dilworth.
The grocery store will take the place of the former Blacklion Hardware, which closed in January, in the Dilworth Gardens Shopping Center at 1412 East Blvd.
According to documents filed earlier this month about the “Fresh Market upfit,” the project will be a renovation to the existing retail building “with minor modifications to the surrounding site area.”
The space is 14,200 square feet, slightly bigger than the standard Trader Joe’s but about one-third the size of a traditional Charlotte-area supermarket like Publix or Harris Teeter.

As we reported previously, this wouldn’t be the first grocery store in the building’s history. Natural foods market Talley’s Green Grocery previously occupied the space before it closed in 2008 after 17 years in business.
Engineering and land-planning firm Kimley-Horn submitted a request in January for “redevelopment of existing Blacklion tenant space for new grocery use.” Kimley-Horn couldn’t be reached for comment, and both Fresh Market and MPV Properties, which manages the Dilworth Gardens property, declined to comment on the project.
Fresh Market opened its third Charlotte location earlier this month, marking the company’s 20th location in North Carolina.
