National auto repair chain buys Matthews Township Collision Center

Service King Collision Repair has purchased Matthews Township Collision Center for an undisclosed amount.

As of Monday, the Matthews auto repair shop will operate as Matthews Township Collision Center, a Service King company, according to Gary Hogan, who founded the Matthews Township Collision Center in 1998.

Also as of Monday, Hogan and his team of seven were hired as Service King employees. Hogan said it wasn’t slow business that prompted him to accept Service King’s offer.

“We are doing great – they’re just a big conglomerate. They came in, they have deep pockets and they gave me a great offer,” Hogan said. “Money talks.”

Dallas-based Service King, one of the fastest growing collision repair companies in the country, now operates two Charlotte-area locations. The other is on McAlway Road. Nationwide, the auto repair chain operates 235 locations in 21 states.

The Matthews Township Collision Center, which has an A+ rating from the Better Business Bureau, currently services about 120 vehicles per month in its 12,000-square-foot facility.
