An escape room called Timed Out is opening early next year in Ballantyne.
The new 3,000 square-foot entertainment facility will be in the Toringdon Market shopping center near Earth Fare, according to a statement Monday. Timed Out features puzzles and challenges that participants have to solve in an hour. It will cater to corporate groups looking for team-building exercises, group gatherings and parties.
The facility will have two escape rooms – one called Precinct, in an old police station, and another called West, which, as its name implies has a Wild West theme. Another two rooms, including an ocean-themed one, are planned to open at a later date, according to the company.
Each hour-long Timed Out sessions costs $25-30 per person, a spokeswoman said.

The new facility is co-owned by a husband-and-wife team, Chris and Tina Burfield.
“Our goal is to create team events that are exciting and challenging – while driving collaboration and recognition of unique talents among the players that will persist long after the team finishes the room,” Chris Burfield said.
