Fast casual seafood chain Captain D’s is planning to expand its footprint in the Carolinas and is seeking franchisees in the Charlotte area.
In a statement Tuesday, the Nashville, Tenn.,-based company didn’t specify how many new stores it’s aiming to open in Charlotte. Captain D’s currently operates 513 restaurants in 26 states, including 27 stores in North Carolina and 12 in the Charlotte market.
For interested franchisees, the restaurant chain will be hosting an open house to discuss opportunities on May 11 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the Hilton Charlotte University Place, 8629 JM Keynes Drive. Those interested can also call Mark Levis, senior director of franchise development, at 615-603-8373 or 615-231-2006, or they can visit the company’s website.
The company said its expansion plans come after a year of “unprecedented growth” in 2014. Sales at restaurantsrestaruants open at least a year grew 4.1 percent, marking Captain D’s fourth straight year of same-store sales growth.

Captain D’s attributes its success to its “ongoing menu innovation” – including new better-for-you options like fire-grilled talapia and shrimp skewers – and its new “vibrant coastal” restaurant design.
“With these efforts, Captain D’s has remained true to what it does best – serving high-quality seafood with warm hospitality at an affordable price,” the company said.
