French bakery Renaissance Patisserie is now aiming for an end-of-April opening date for its first brick-and-mortar store in South End.
Chef Sylvain Rivet said all there’s left to do is finish decorating the front of the store and buy a few pieces of furniture and a refrigerator. He anticipates it will be open Tuesday through Saturday from 6:30 a.m. until 3 or 3:30 p.m.
Rivet said he’s had to hire a few new employees to help not only with the new store, but to continue their regular business at three farmers markets in Charlotte, Gastonia and Greensboro.
“I have a lot of people starting to get excited and calling me to ask if we’re open,” Rivet said. “Now I’m at the stage where I’m feeling a little bit bad because I say ‘yes we’re opening very soon.’ I have one customer call me every week to ask if we’re open.”
