Foxcroft Wine Co. will open a second location in Dilworth this summer, adding to the neighborhood’s growing number of boutique wine shops.
The wine shop will occupy the 3,200-square-foot space in the Kenilworth Commons shopping center that was formerly Charlotte Yarn, which moved over seven spaces into a new location in the same complex.
The wine shop’s new spot will have 3,500 different wines, including 40 available for tasting, as well as 12 beers on tap. It’ll also have a big kitchen and spacious outdoor patio.
The shop is expected to open in August.
The original location in Foxcroft opened a little over a decade ago and has turned into “a really busy restaurant at night,” said Abby Johnson, the store’s retail manager. The move into a second location in Dilworth was a “natural evolution” but not one that was originally planned by owner Conrad Hunter, a native Charlottean.
“Dilworth has a similar market to what we have over here, and a lot of our customers live over there as well,” Johnson said.
The new store is about a mile from a new wine and cheese shop called Cured, which is slated to open this weekend in the old Dilworth Billiards space. Foxcroft’s new store is also just up the street from the Wine Shop Dilworth, a neighborhood shop that has been around for over 20 years, and Bulldog Beer and Wine, which are both on Park Road.
Other wine bars nearby include The Wine Loft and Vin Master, both on South Boulevard.
