Pike Nurseries is opening its third Charlotte-area location soon near Lake Norman.
The Atlanta company’s new 40,000 square-foot nursery will be at 18234 Statesville Road in Cornelius, near Interstate 77. Pike said in a recent statement it is targeting a late March opening date.
Pike Nurseries CEO Mike Kunce said the company has received “an overwhelming amount of support in the Charlotte market.” The Cornelius location will be Pike’s 18th. Pike’s other area locations are in Matthews, which opened in 2016, and in Ballantyne, which opened in 2000.
To staff up for its new location in Cornelius, Pike will host a career fair at its Matthews location at 1016 Devore Lane Jan. 17 from 1-4 p.m. The company is looking to fill a number of positions, including in sales, maintenance and loading.

“Charlotte’s growth in recent years has demonstrated an increased interest in horticulture among residents looking for the best selection and expert advice,” Kunce said.
Pike sells trees, shrubs, perennials, houseplants and vegetables, as well as a collection of other goods including pottery, fountains, patio furniture and birding supplies.
