The popular breakfast restaurant Famous Toastery opens its latest Charlotte-area location this Thursday in downtown Mooresville.
The restaurant will be in a 3,000 square-foot space at 170 N. Main St., in the spot previously occupied by Daily Grind Grill & Cafe.
This will be the second Famous Toastery for restaurant operators Stacy and Chuck White, a spokeswoman said. The Whites, both retired school teachers, operate another one in Mooresville that opened about three years ago.
Famous Toastery, which first opened in Huntersville as Toast Cafe in 2005, was named a franchise to watch in December 2015 by CNBC. The chain has been expanding rapidly in recent years.

Co-founder Robert Maynard told the Observer in an interview last year that the company plans to have about 25 locations throughout the Charlotte market in the next two years.
Last year, the chain opened a restaurant in Philadelphia, its first location outside the southeast. The new Mooresville location will be the restaurant’s 28th location; Famous Toastery anticipates having 40 locations by the end of this year.
