A New York wine bar is targeting the first week of June for its opening in South Park near Whole Foods.

Corkbuzz, run and co-owned by master sommelier Laura Maniec, will be part restaurant, part wine bar and will offer wine and food education classes and events in addition to selling wine retail.

The restaurant’s menu is still being finalized, but it’ll feature some of Corkbuzz’s New York offerings as well as “southern-influenced dishes,” according to a statement from the restaurant.

Corkbuzz will be in Sharon Square at 4905 Ashley Park Lane, near Dogwood Southern Table & Bar, in an approximately 3,500-square-foot space that’s almost done with renovations, property records show.

Its interior, designed by a firm called K2M, will include a bar area, communal table and private dining room space for classes and events.

Corkbuzz operates two other restaurants in New York’s Union Square and Chelsea Market areas.

Maniec, a New York-based veteran restauranteur with family ties in Charlotte, recently told Food & Wine Magazine that some of her favorite spots in Charlotte include Good Food on Montford, Wine Shop at Foxcroft and Earl’s Grocery.
