The popular garden retailer Pike Nurseries is hiring about 30 workers to prepare for its busiest season of the year.
The Atlanta company will take on seasonal positions, including cashiers, sales associates, delivery drivers, visual merchandisers and manager trainees – basically “anyone who loves plants, people and playing in the dirt,” Pike said in a statement this week.
Horticultural knowledge is a plus, but is not required, Pike added. Interested applicants can visit Pike’s Cornelius location, which opens near Westmoreland Road on Friday from 11 a.m.-5 p.m.
Pike, the country’s largest independent garden retailer, offers its employees benefits such as company stock ownership options, sales incentives and paid holidays.
The local hiring is part of a company-wide effort to take on roughly 100 workers during the busy spring season at Pike’s locations throughout Charlotte and Atlanta.
The Cornelius location will be Pike’s 18th. Pike’s other area locations are in Matthews, which opened in 2016, and in Ballantyne, which opened in 2000.
Pike joins a growing number of other companies hiring in Charlotte for the spring season. Mooresville-based Lowe’s, for instance, is looking to fill more than 1,250 local positions this spring, and its rival, Atlanta-based Home Depot, is hiring for about 450 jobs in Charlotte.
