A high-profile corner near Park Road Shopping Center is undergoing some changes.

The Citgo gas station at 4343 Park Road, attached to a McDonald's, will close for good Wednesday, a store manager confirmed. The McDonald's, however, will remain open, a restaurant manager said.

The gas pumps out front are being removed, and permits filed last week indicate the 3,500 square-foot building will be renovated.

It's unclear what will take the place of the Citgo, one of three gas stations at the corner of Woodlawn and Park roads, and its convenience store. Property owner Edens, the Columbia-based developer that bought the nearby Park Road Shopping Center for $82 million in 2011, could not immediately be reached for comment.

Since buying the Park Road Shopping Center, Edens has been making some significant changes to its tenant lineup.

The beloved Park Terrace closed in December, for instance, though Edens said it has no plans to tear down the historic building. Edens has not confirmed a new tenant for the space yet.

While other longtime businesses like Toys & Co. have closed their doors, Edens has also added a number of new stores and restaurants, including J. Crew Mercantile, Amelie’s and Flour Shop. The popular Washington, D.C.-based Mediterranean restaurant chain Cava will take the place of Fuel Pizza, which closed in December.
