A Mediterranean-inspired cafe and specialty food shop called efKarpo is opening in SouthPark this fall.

The store will be located in a 1,178-square-foot space at 6401 Morrison Blvd. in the Specialty Shops SouthPark.

An exact opening date was not immediately available.

efKarpo will sell a variety of goods including high-quality spices and herbs, seeds and nuts. The cafe will feature breakfast options like coffee, tea, juice and fresh Greek yogurt, lunchtime items like paninis and salads, and end-of-day treats like wine, cheeses and cured fish.

“Our mission at efKarpo is to share with you simple pleasures: the highest-quality flavors and gifts – genuine ingredients in pure form – to enjoy in our intimate space, to take home, or to share as the perfect gift,” Giorgio Bakatsias, the shop’s owner, said in a statement.

Bakatsias, a James Beard-nominated chef, operates Georges Brasserie in Charlotte. Bakatsias is also partnering with local restaurateur Martin Sprock to open a Mediterranean-inspired barbecue smokehouse in East Boulevard in the former Tijuana Flats space, Sprock recently told the Observer.
