Travelers will soon have more meal options at Charlotte Douglas International Airport.
“Better burger” chain Smashburger will open a restaurant in the airport in 2016.
The new location will be in the airport’s food court between terminals D and E, Denver-based Smashburger said in a statement this week.
The burger company said it is partnering with airport food operator HMSHost to open restaurants in Houston and San José airports this year, too.

“High-traffic destinations are a tremendous opportunity to put Smashburger in front of large numbers of people, generating awareness and trial at a rate that is more difficult to achieve at a traditional location,” Scott Crane, CEO of Smashburger, said in the statement.
Smashburger offers fresh, made-to-order burgers, chicken sandwiches, fresh salads and side items like hand-spun milkshakes.
The chain has two other Charlotte locations – in Cotswold and in Stonecrest.
