Zaxby’s to open 700th restaurant Monday in Charlotte

Zaxby’s is opening its 700th restaurant Monday in Charlotte’s Steele Creek area. It will celebrate the milestone with several opening day festivities, including giveaways and a meet-and-greet with a NASCAR driver.

Zaxby’s, a Georgia chain known for its chicken fingers and a competitor of Charlotte-based Bojangles’, will open the new 3,800-square-foot restaurant at 9308 Robert Irwin Drive, near the Charlotte Premium Outlets. It will be Charlotte’s eighth Zaxby’s.

“Twenty-five years ago, we had a simple goal – to provide an upbeat, fun, relaxing place that served great chicken. We are proud that this 700th location remains true to that original concept,” Zach McLeroy, Zaxby’s chief executive officer and president, said in a statement.

For the first 100 customers in line by 10 a.m. Monday, the restaurant will give away a deal package that includes a free item at the Robert Irwin Drive Zaxby’s each week for a year, and seven of those packs will include a $100 Zaxby’s gift card.

On the opening day, the new location will also host a meet-and-greet with Zaxby’s NASCAR driver No. 25, John Wes Townley – a nod to Charlotte’a NASCAR roots, the company said. The restaurant is also donating $700 to seven area nonprofit organizations.

The new location will employ about 40 people and is still hiring. Interested applicants can apply online.

Zaxby’s operates in 16 states, mostly in the South, but has locations in Indiana and Utah.
