Just as the Charlotte Checkers season gets underway, the popular Charlotte barbecue restaurant Queen City Q has been named the “official BBQ” of the hockey team and will open a location inside the renovated Bojangles’ Coliseum.
The new stand will be on the main concourse overlooking Independence Boulevard. It will serve items like pulled pork, brisket and pulled pork nachos, along with local craft beer.
“We’ve enjoyed a fantastic relationship with the Checkers since we opened Uptown in 2012,” Bryan Meredith, Queen City Q’s managing partner, said in a statement Monday. “We’ve loved feeding their very loyal fans and are excited to have the opportunity to continue to do that inside Bojangles Coliseum.”
Queen City Q first opened in uptown Charlotte in February 2012 and opened a second location in Matthews at the Plantation Market Shopping Center in July. The restaurant also recently said it is adding a Concord location that will open in early winter.
