The new Walmart Neighborhood Market in Hickory will open Oct. 28.

The approximately 41,000-square-foot grocery store is located at 2415 Springs Road NE, near the McDonald Parkway intersection.

“We’re just about ready – stocking the shelves and preparing to open our doors,” Stephen Thomas, the store’s manager, said in a statement this week.

The Neighborhood Market concept is Walmart’s version of a traditional supermarket. It typically offers an array of fresh groceries, meats, frozen foods and a pharmacy.

Walmart is the biggest grocery store in the Charlotte region by market share, right above Harris Teeter, according to sales-tracking firm Chain Store Guide.
