Popular Charlotte steakhouse Beef and Bottle will be closed until early November as it upgrades its kitchen.

The temporary closure started Monday, the restaurant said on its Facebook page. Heard Ratzlaff is handling construction of the project.

An exact opening date wasn’t immediately available. The restaurant could not be reached for comment.

Beef and Bottle first opened on North Tryon Street as House of Steaks. It moved to its current location at 4538 South Blvd. in 1978.

Often called one of the best steak restaurants in Charlotte, Beef and Bottle is known for its dimly lit, old-fashioned atmosphere and its menu of steaks, seafood, chicken and pasta.
