Windsor Jewelers in Phillips Place has sold a rare Patek Philippe watch for $613,000, roughly the cost of a remodeled home in Dilworth.

The sale (to an undisclosed buyer) of the Ref. 5304R Minute Repeater Perpetual Calendar is the first sale of a Patek minute repeater in North Carolina and the first sale of that particular model of Patek Phillippe in the U.S., Windsor said this week.

The model of Patek Philippe watch sold takes almost two years to make. It chimes the time on demand and sounds separate tones for hours, quarter-hours and minutes.

Windor says Patek Philippe President Thierry Stern personally listens to every model to make sure it meets brand standards.

Patek Philippe is a Swiss watchmaker that dates back to 1839. Windsor Jewelers started in Winston-Salem in 1986. Its Charlotte location is the company’s second and is headed by founder Rob Simon’s son, Ben.
