Starting Thursday at 7 a.m., Kohl’s department stores nationwide will be open 24/7 until 6 p.m. Christmas Eve.

This is the first year Kohl’s is open so long leading up to Christmas. Last year, the retailer opened stores for 24 hours from Dec. 19 until 6 p.m. Dec. 24.

Retailers are working to lure last-minute shoppers into their stores with perks like extended hours during the important holiday season, which accounts for nearly one-fifth of annual retail sales.

Kohl’s says it will offer a slew of promotions on “Super Saturday,” Dec. 19, and time-saving initiatives like buy online, pick up in store.

“We are opening our doors around-the-clock leading up to Christmas to give customers even more time to get their last-minute gifts,” said Michelle Gass, Kohl’s chief merchandise and customer officer, in a statement this week.

The company also says customers who open a Kohl’s credit card will save 30 percent on their first purchase until Dec. 24. The retailer is also touting its Yes2You loyalty program, which gives shoppers a point for every dollar they spend, and $5 for every 100 points they accumulate.

Kohl’s operates 11 stores in the Charlotte region, according to the company’s website.
