Through December, Food Lion shoppers will be able to access digital coupons through the Shazam app on their smartphones while grocery shopping.
Shazam is a popular app that identifies song titles when launched. Through Food Lion’s campaign, customers “Shazam” a song playing in grocery stores, then they are directed to the grocer’s MVP Coupon Hub, where they can access digital coupons that are immediately downloaded onto their MVP loyalty card and redeemed at checkout.
“We’re always looking for more ways for our customers to save while grocery shopping,” said Keith Nicks, director of loyalty and digital marketing at Salisbury-based Food Lion. “We believe this is an easy and fun way to do just that during the busy holiday season, while continuing to make groceries more affordable for our customers.”
Food Lion operates 142 stores in the Charlotte market, which also includes Hickory and Rock Hill.

Another local company to announce a partnership with the Texas firm this week is Charlotte-based Just Fresh. When a customer launches the Shazam app, they are presented with content advertising the fast casual restaurant chain’s E-Club for special offers and inviting them to connect with Just Fresh on social media.
