The J.Crew Mercantile is on track to open in the last week of January in the Park Road Shopping Center.

Lyle Darnall, managing director at Edens, confirmed the expected opening last week. The store will be in the space next to Blackhawk Hardware that was previously occupied by Toys & Co., which closed at that location last February.

J.Crew Mercantile is a new concept that offers the same apparel, accessories and footwear found at J.Crew Factory stores. This will be the first of its kind in Charlotte. J.Crew Mercantile currently operates eight stores in Texas, Illinois, Georgia, California, Wisconsin, Virginia and Oregon, according to its website.

Edens bought the Park Road Shopping Center in 2011 for $82 million and has done major renovations to the complex. Edens, based in Columbia, also operates the Myers Park Center, Atherton Mill and Kenilworth Commons.

Edens has also brought new tenants to Park Road Shopping Center. Most recently, the company said two restaurant chains, Burton’s Grill and Urban Cookhouse, both new to Charlotte, will open in early spring in the former Monkey Joe’s space.
