The new Wal-Mart Neighborhood Market in Pineville opens Wednesday at 7:30 a.m.

The 46,000 square-foot store at 8322 Pineville-Matthews Road will be open 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

The Neighborhood Market is Wal-Mart’s version of a traditional grocery store. It will offer low-priced items including fresh produce, meat, canned goods, health and beauty products, pet supplies, cleaning products as well as a full-service deli and custom pizza bar.

It also has a drive-thru pharmacy and free store pickup service for items shopped through Walmart.com.

The new store is expected to employ up to 95 full-time and part-time workers. Wal-Mart started hiring for the positions this fall but is still accepting applications at the store’s hiring kiosk or online at Walmartcareers.com.

“We are proud to be a part of the Pineville community,” store manager Patty Campbell said in a statement this week. “We look forward to opening and providing area residents with Wal-Mart’s everyday low prices.”

The new supermarket will also host a grand opening day event Jan. 23 from noon to 3 p.m., offering customers a meet-and-greet with Campbell, family-friendly activities and free food samples.
