Hwy 55 Burgers, Shakes & Fries is opening a new restaurant in Charlotte’s Steele Creek area Feb. 10.
The new location at 4847 Shopton Road will be the chain’s eighth in the Charlotte area, and an additional 50 new stores are planned in North Carolina over the next decade, Hwy 55 said in a statement Tuesday.
Hwy 55, formerly called Andy’s Burgers, Shakes & Fries, was founded in Goldsboro in 1991. Its restaurants are 1950s diner-style and feature menus of burgers, cheesesteaks, fries and frozen desserts.
“We chose the Steele Creek area of Charlotte because the widening of 49, the replacement of the old Buster Boyd Bridge, and the opening of I-485, which has spurred tremendous growth in both residential and commercial development,” Hwy 55 president and founder Kenney Moore said.
