In case you missed it, Saks Fifth Avenue Off 5th at Concord Mills has closed.

Simon Malls, which owns the outlet mall, says the closure was planned and is intended to make way for a new anchor tenant that will be announced “in a few weeks.”

“This will be an exciting complement to our center’s diverse and dynamic retail mix, which currently includes Sea Life, AMC 24-Screen Theatres/IMAX and The Speedpark, as well as recently opened stores such as Samsonite and Francesca’s,” Simon spokeswoman Carly Dennis said on behalf of Concord Mills.

Off 5th had been a Concord Mills anchor since the 1.4-million-square-foot mega mall opened in September 1999. The factory store sold clearance items from the upscale Saks Fifth Avenue.

Elsewhere in Charlotte, Off 5th is the largest tenant at Charlotte Premium Outlets, which opened in Steele Creek in July 2014.
