Pure Intentions Coffee said this week it has completed its USDA Organic Certification, making it the only Charlotte-based fair trade and organic certified coffee roaster.

The company has been preparing for the organic inspection and certification for over a year and a half, according to a statement Thursday. The annual certification process, Pure Intentions said, includes an audit and inspection of supply chain and distribution documentation “to ensure organic integrity is maintained.”

“My goal with this certification is that everyone who picks up a bag of Pure Intentions Coffee in Charlotte has confidence that they are receiving coffee that was locally crafted with care and attention to sustainability and quality,” Pure Intentions owner Matt Yarmey said.

The coffee maker also recently released new packaging, which features its new branding and the USDA organic seal.

Pure Intentions was started in Charlotte in 2011 and now sells in more than 60 retail locations including grocery stores, restaurants, bars and markets.
