Teen-fashion retailer rue21 is expanding its store in the Rock Hill Galleria.
The shopping center said Friday rue21 will add 2,400 square feet, so the new store will be 7,900 square feet. Construction has begun and is expected to wrap up sometime this spring.
The store will remain open in a temporary space during construction, the mall said in a statement.
“We are confident that shoppers will consider it a bonus to be able to shop a broader merchandise selection available at the expanded store,” said Michael Wheat, managing director of leasing and marketing for Cypress Equities, the mall’s managing agent.
Rue21 sells affordable, casual apparel for young men and women. The retailer, which last summer opened a store in the Carolina Place Mall, operates 1,187 stores in 48 states.
Rock Hill Galleria, a 470,000-square-foot mall, is anchored by Belk, Sears and JCPenney.
