Southern States will open its latest Charlotte-area farm supply store May 6 in Conover, which is about 45 miles northwest of uptown.
Construction on the new store at 814 Conover Blvd. W. began this winter, Southern States said this week. The new store is hiring 15-20 workers, and those interested can apply here.
Products sold in the store’s 12,000-square-foot interior showroom include a slew of farm and home supplies such as animal feed, fertilizer, seed and animal health supplies. A 10,000-square-foot lot outside will sell larger farm products, including steel gates, bunk feeders and wire fencing.
The store will host a grand opening May 6 with pony rides, a petting zoo, antique tractors on display and a live DJ. The first 1,000 customers will also get a free T-shirt and a 5-gallon bucket.
This is Southern States’ fifth new store in the Charlotte area in the past two years. Most recently, it closed a Gastonia store and opened a new, larger one in Dallas, about 24 miles west of Charlotte. The Richmond, Va.-based retailer operates 1,200 stores in 23 states.
