The popular Myers Park Thai restaurant Deejai is opening a new sister concept called Rai Lay Thai in South End in early April.
The new spot is at 1520 South Blvd., Suite 130, next to the Aveda Institute and across from CVS. It’s in a space once occupied by a place called Roast Beef and Rye Delicatessen.
Manager Emily Hesse said the restaurant is currently doing some finishing touches to its 1,600 square-foot space. Once open, it’ll be able to seat 47 and will also have a patio.
The restaurant will have a totally different menu and experience from Deejai, she said.

Rai Lay, named after the beach in Thailand, will serve popular menu items that you’d find walking the streets of Thailand, like oyster pancakes and Thai sausage. It’ll also have sushi and specialty cocktails.
“The goal is that Rai Lay will bring something different to this upcoming, young, hip neighborhood while expanding many palettes on the art of Thai food,” Hesse said.
The restaurant is hiring for both kitchen and front-of-house positions, including hosts, servers and bartenders, according to its Facebook page.
Omjai Budsri and her husband opened Deejai in 2009 on Providence Road.
