Clothing retailer H&M plans to open a new, 23,000-square-foot store in Concord Mills in spring 2017.
It will be in a portion of the space formerly occupied by Saks Fifth Avenue Off 5th, a former mall anchor that recently closed.
The new H&M – a Swedish retailer known for its affordable, trendy apparel – will have sections for men, women and kids, as well as “store within a store” sections for accessories, maternity and athletic wear, the retailer said in a statement Monday.
H&M operates 10 other stores in North Carolina, including in SouthPark, Carolina Place and Northlake malls.

An opening date for the Concord store was not immediately clear.
Off Fifth was one of the first anchors of Concord Mills when it opened in September 1999. The factory store sold clearance items from the upscale Saks Fifth Avenue.
Concord Mills, a 1.4-million-square-foot mall, is owned by Simon Property Group, which also operates SouthPark mall and Charlotte Premium Outlets.
