Harris Teeter said Thursday it is looking to fill almost 650 positions companywide, including at two new stores in the Charlotte area.
The Matthews-based grocer is hosting hiring events this summer at the Steele Croft store (13000 S. Tryon St.) to fill a variety of positions, from full-time department heads and assistant store managers to part-time cashiers and department clerks, the grocer said in a statement.
A July 21 hiring event will be for jobs at the new Gastonia location, which is at Robinwood and Kendrick roads, spokeswoman Danna Robinson said. An Aug. 18 hiring event will be for jobs at the new southwest Charlotte location in Berewick.
The Gastonia store will employ 115, and the Charlotte store will employ 105. Some of those employees will come from existing area stores, so the grocer will be hiring for those other stores to replace the ones transferring, Robinson said.

Both of the new stores are expected to open this fall, she added.
“We are looking for hard-working people passionate about customer service excellence, who want to work in a fun, team environment with great benefits and advancement opportunities,” Robinson said.
As part of the summer hiring spree, Harris Teeter is also looking to fill jobs in Cary and Bethesda, Md. It’s also working to schedule other hiring events in parts of Maryland and Virginia this summer.
Harris Teeter opened 10 stores last year and expects to open another 11 this year, the grocer said.
