Popular Charlotte restaurant 5Church will open a midtown Atlanta location on June 24.

The new Atlanta restaurant, which will serve dinner daily, will be at 1197 Peachtree St. NE. The original 5Church opened in Charlotte in May 2012, and it operates one other recently opened spot in Charleston’s historic downtown.

James Beard Award winning chef RJ Cooper will oversee the Atlanta restaurant’s kitchen daily, 5Church said in a statement this week. Cooper has collaborated with one of the restaurant’s co-owners, Jamie Lynch, to develop the new restaurant’s menu.

The menu will include 5church’s most popular items, including the “60 Second” NY Strip Steak, and new, locally sourced dishes specially made for the Atlanta market, the restaurant says. It will also have a 200-bottle wine list and a selection of specialty cocktails and craft beers.

Managing partner Ayman Kamel moved to Atlanta with his family and will operate the restaurant locally.

“There is nothing like having the creators of the 5Church culture themselves standing in the restaurant on a daily basis to greet guests and ensure product consistency,” Kamel says. “This is the strongest way to keep all of our restaurants connected.”

As its name implies, 5Church originally opened in uptown Charlotte at Fifth and Church streets.
