Charlotte-based chain Salsarita’s has permanently closed its uptown location in the Latta Arcade, a prime spot facing Tryon Street near the intersection of Martin Luther King Boulevard.

The restaurant’s other location nearby at the Overstreet Mall will serve the uptown market moving forward, said Phil Friedman, the company’s CEO.

Jonathan Stewart, leasing director at Northwood Retail, said there is a new tenant for the space at 320 S. Tryon St., but it doesn’t want to disclose its name yet.

“Salsarita’s at Overstreet Mall serves our entire Uptown Charlotte customer base exceptionally well, allowing us to close the second location in that area in order to research additional locations in Charlotte, our hometown market,” Friedman said.

The Mexican-style food chain was founded in Charlotte in 2000. Its Overstreet location is at 101 S Tryon St.
