Construction’s progressing on the new Embassy Suites hotel across from the NASCAR Hall of Fame in uptown Charlotte and should wrap up by October. The hotel’s ground floor will include a Japanese steakhouse and 2,500 more square feet of retail that developer BPR Properties says it will soon announce.
The steakhouse, called Suki Akor, will open in a 2,500 square-foot space on the ground floor of the building at 401 E. Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd., said Birju Patel, president of Greensboro-based BPR.
The restaurant just put up a sign indicating it is opening this summer. It’s in the design process right now and should begin construction next month, Patel added. Suki Akor is locally owned by Dino Crnalic, who also owns Pure Body Fitness in South End.
The 250-room hotel has an additional 2,500 square feet available of retail, and Patel said BPR is in the final rounds of negotiations to get that portion “buttoned up.”
