Uncle Maddio’s Pizza is opening its latest local restaurant July 22 in midtown Charlotte, across the street from Trader Joe’s.
This will be Uncle Maddio’s third pizzeria in the Charlotte area, the company said in a statement this week. It’ll be in the Kings Square retail center, 345 S. Kings Dr., a renovated complex that also will include CycleBar, an indoor cycling fitness studio.
Atlanta-based Uncle Maddio’s offers make-your-own pizza, as well as salads, hand-crafted folded pizza, craft beer and wine. Each pie is prepared in fast-baked ovens, meaning they’re ready in about six minutes. For customized pizzas, customers can pick from three types of crust – regular, wheat or gluten-free – and 48 different toppings.
“Our locations in Charlotte and Huntersville have been incredible successful and we plan to build on that success for our third location,” said Jerry Licari, the local franchisee.

He and business partner Tim Verhagen have signed on to open eight locations across the Charlotte area.
The restaurant’s opening weekend includes events like a brewery night July 23, when Uncle Maddio’s will partner with Old Mecklenburg Brewery for “Keep the Glass” night, and Family Day July 24, when kids 12 and under eat for free.
Charlotte-based MPV Properties bought Kings Square last November for $3.25 million and have been renovating the building’s façade. Subway, Emperor Chinese Restaurant and iColor Nails, all existing tenants, will remain where they are.
