Springfree Trampoline, maker of ‘smart trampolines,’ opens Saturday in Blakeney, the south Charlotte shopping center off Rea Road near Ballantyne.

This is the retailer’s eighth U.S. store, according to a statement this week.

Springfree says its trampolines eliminate 90 percent of product-related injuries associated with traditional trampolines, including impact areas like rigid enclosure poles.

The store will have “dedicated trampoline experts” on hand to educate families on trampoline safety. Different trampoline models throughout the store will be available for testing.

Springfree’s new store also is offering an outdoor digital game system, tgoma – which stands for “take games outside and make them active.” The idea behind the interactive game technology is to encourage outdoor play. It offers 10 signature products, including educational games, interactive fitness options and playful activities, Springfree said.

“Our goal is to shift kids’ behavior from indoor sedentary game play to game play that is outdoors and active,” said Steve Holmes, the company’s president, in the statement.

Along with Springfree, nutritional supplement store GNC, Waxhaw Candle Company and a high-end bike shop called NC Velo will also soon open in Blakeney.
